Which license do I need?

Individual License

$20/month — 1 device

An Individual license is for personal, freelance, and independently produced use.

It may be used to create, rehearse, and project surtitles for independently produced performances including:

• solo recitals
• student and degree recitals
• faculty recitals
• collaborative piano recitals
• chamber recitals
• small student ensemble concerts
• small vocal or instrumental ensemble performances
• composer recitals
• new-music performances
• artist-produced concerts
• independently organized concerts
• freelance surtitling and preparation work

This may still qualify as Individual use even if the performance is public, ticketed, paid, held at a university or conservatory, fulfills an academic requirement, or uses Cue Fury live.

A student recital or small student ensemble concert does not automatically require a School license simply because it takes place at a school.

Individual use is intended for recitals, chamber performances, small ensembles, freelance work, and similar independently produced activity rather than the institution’s full productions, large ensembles, or department-run programmed events.

An Individual user may also create, export, sell, or deliver PowerPoint, PDF, score, title, or other supported materials to clients.

A client does not need a Cue Fury license merely to receive exported materials.

School License

$200/year

A School license is for universities, conservatories, music schools, and similar academic institutions.

It provides department-wide academic access for faculty and students for 12 months from activation or purchase unless otherwise stated.

It may cover multiple productions, operas, musicals, scenes programs, concerts, recitals, rehearsals, classes, and academic projects.

A School license is generally required when Cue Fury is used for the institution’s full productions, large ensembles, department-run concerts, or formally programmed performance activity, including:

• full operas
• musicals and musical-theatre productions
• operettas
• opera scenes programs
• symphony orchestra concerts
• official school chamber orchestra concerts
• wind ensemble
• concert band
• major choir or choral-orchestral performances
• concerto performances with a school orchestra
• institutionally programmed large new-music ensemble concerts
• similar department-run large ensemble activity

Examples

• Violin student performs a concerto with piano reduction on a recital → Individual
• Student performs the concerto with the university orchestra → School
• Singer performs opera arias on a degree recital → Individual
• University mounts the complete opera → School
• Several students organize their own chamber concert → Individual
• Official university chamber orchestra concert → School

A performance does not become School use merely because it happens on campus, uses a school venue, receives academic credit, or involves students or faculty.

Production License

$100 per production

A Production license is for professional opera companies, festivals, and similar production organizations when Cue Fury itself is used as part of their programmed activity.

This includes:

• full operas
• concerts
• galas
• scenes programs
• other organization-produced performances

Multiple productions or events may be covered through an agreed season or festival bundle.

A Production license covers the devices reasonably needed for that production or agreed bundle.

Device ownership does not determine the license category.

A freelancer may use an Individual license to prepare surtitles and deliver exported files to a company. But if Cue Fury itself is used to rehearse or operate the company’s production or programmed performance, Production licensing applies even if Cue Fury is running on a freelancer’s or employee’s personal laptop.

Simple distinction

• Independently produced recital, chamber performance, small ensemble event, or freelance preparation → Individual
• School’s full production, large ensemble, or department-run programmed activity → School
• Professional company or festival programmed activity → Production

Money alone does not determine the category. Device ownership alone does not determine the category.

Individual licenses may not replace organizational licensing

A school, company, festival, or other organization may not purchase, reimburse, centrally distribute, or share Individual subscriptions as a substitute for the appropriate School or Production license.

This does not prohibit legitimate license stacking. Multiple people may independently purchase and use their own Individual licenses for their own qualifying work.

License keys and access

License keys and access credentials may only be used within the scope of the license for which they were issued.

License keys may not be shared, resold, transferred, duplicated, publicly posted, or distributed without Cue Fury’s permission.

Cue Fury may suspend or revoke access in cases of clear abuse, unauthorized sharing, payment fraud, or deliberate violation of these Terms.

Cue Fury does not claim to monitor physical location, projector connections, campus networks, venues, or similar activity to determine license compliance.

Your work

Users retain ownership of materials they create with Cue Fury, subject to any rights held in underlying source material.

Cue Fury does not claim ownership over user-created surtitles, translations, presentations, PowerPoint files, PDFs, annotated scores, title materials, or other exported materials.

Users are responsible for having the rights necessary to use, modify, import, export, perform, or distribute any libretti, translations, scores, images, fonts, recordings, or other copyrighted material.

Individual subscription billing and cancellation

Individual subscriptions are billed monthly and renew automatically until canceled.

Users may cancel at any time. Access continues through the end of the current paid billing period.

Refunds

Refund requests are considered case by case.

Any rights required by applicable law remain unaffected.

Software updates

Cue Fury may release updates, bug fixes, compatibility changes, security changes, improvements, and new features.

Cue Fury does not guarantee indefinite availability of every prior version or feature.

Backups

Users are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of projects, scores, exports, and other important files.

Cue Fury should not be treated as the only copy of production-critical material.

Acceptable use

Users may not deliberately circumvent license restrictions, knowingly use a license outside its permitted scope, distribute access credentials to unauthorized users, interfere with Cue Fury systems, violate applicable law, or knowingly infringe third-party intellectual-property rights.

Cue Fury intellectual property

Cue Fury software, code, branding, interfaces, website, graphics, and related intellectual property belong to Cue Fury or its licensors.

A Cue Fury license grants permission to use the software under these Terms. It does not transfer ownership of Cue Fury itself.

Suspension and termination

Cue Fury may suspend or terminate access for payment fraud, deliberate license circumvention, unauthorized license sharing, serious misuse, or material violation of these Terms.

Where practical, Cue Fury will favor reasonable notice and correction for ordinary mistakes or misunderstandings.

Termination does not transfer ownership of user-created or exported materials to Cue Fury.

Software provided as-is

Cue Fury is provided “as is” and “as available.”

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cue Fury does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation or compatibility with every device, operating system, score, file, venue, or production environment.

Users are responsible for testing Cue Fury before relying on it in a rehearsal, performance, or other production-critical setting.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cue Fury will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or similar damages arising from use of the software, including loss of data, revenue, production time, performances, or business opportunities.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cue Fury’s total liability arising from a particular license or transaction will not exceed the amount paid to Cue Fury for that license or transaction during the applicable period.

Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Changes to these Terms

Cue Fury may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted with a revised effective date and will apply prospectively.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
